It’s quite astonishing to see how managers at Cisco – primarily from Senior Director level and up – effortlessly secure full-time positions and internships for their children and other family members.. and also they publish it shameless on LinkedIn. This, of course, allows incompetence and nepotistic behavior to be neatly passed down within Cisco. Naturally, these folks are never affected by layoffs. The only time I saw one of them impacted was when their father was laid off a quarter earlier.

I've seen worse at previous companies. Unfortunately, it's a standard practice in corporate American. Same practice at the University level (Ivy’s, etc).
This is not unique to CISCO. Many tech companies executives did the same. How a student/fresh grads get experience? This is one way if you have connections. For CISCO's software group, since Pandemic, only VP up (and very few Senior Dir) have the way to do this. Line mgrs are no longer able to lay a finger on interns.
Of course, all the interns followed the "process" but others won't even got opportunities to in the "process". Unfair? This is how executive circles worked for years. Just let it go.
It’s been that way for years, especially on the CSAP and apprentice programmes. And, news flash, it’s no different in other companies.
It’s unfair to assume that the child follows the parent. I’ve known many where Junior is way, way better than Senior.
To the people complaining about there being no problem with referring friends and/or relatives, this is not about referring someone who is skilled and competent. The problem here is that some leaders bring on their friends or relatives with no competencies and no experience and then those people end up taking positions and promotions from those who are legitimately qualified. When it comes to LR, the friends and/or relatives are saved by those leaders while the experienced employees get the boot. That’s why this is a problem

There are lot of managers and Directors bring their kids for intern and all four years they come back every year and make 25K and no ROI. It is a free Cisco money for Mangers and Directors. Though there is centralized pool but somehow they put their kids with contact and friends
Can confirm there is blatant nepotism in CX. So many laid off and hires kept on have connections with sr director and above.
I am am starting to hate myself for spending time on layoff.com , blind etc - I’m all for ranting about the company and my managers and so on, but sometimes people go off the rails - I really can’t see a problem with referring friends and family as long as the process is followed and the candidate is vetted correctly
Earlier people asked for referrals and suggested family and friends too - somewhere along the line people decided it was nepotism ! What’s the problem here - if you refer your friend or your cousin, is it wrong ? If they are a good employee and contribute well, who’s complaining ?
There is one DE in chris's org
is it a part of South Asian culture ?
How about you give 1 name?
There are multiple if you start digging around.
