Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Nielsen's future looks bleak

All the talented employees were laid off just to fatten the pockets of those on top. There’s hardly any talent left to turn the company around. More layoffs are probably coming soon - after all, what's going to fund bonuses for executives? I'm now just waiting it out to collect severance pay.

That would be great news with their archaic systems and horrible leadership

Most of the talent is gone and the replacements I am working with are a joke. Karthik is one of the worst leaders I have ever seen, will be surprised if this thing makes it to 2026.

Got laid off from NIQ last week, me and my whole team, after they made me train 80 new associates in Pune. 13 years of my life in the trashhhh.

Nielsen has not been the same since 2007, having lost much of its core identity and essence.

“you can’t get unemployment at the same time. that starts after your severance“

Yes you can. It varies from state to state. I know from experience.

The fact is even if Nielsen died tomorrow, it had a great run. 70+ years in the TV biz is pretty damn good. I remember sitting in my cube around 2009ish (had an office before that but the cost cutting started even way back then) and reading about this thing called "hulu." Lol. A website that has TV shows? Nobody, including high level managers in the NYC office, had a clue what it was. That's when I knew the company was eventually doomed! At that time, Nielsen had its toe dipped into too many ancillary businesses and focused on integrating all the subsidiaries into one big monster company...while ignoring it's key biz of video measurement. They just assumed that would always be a big steady money maker. Little did they know.

you can’t get unemployment at the same time. that starts after your severance ends. at least for the US.

Just waiting for my severance and collecting unemployment at the same time. After that I will joyfully enter retirement. God is Great, Beer is Good, People are Crazy!

Nielsen’s future has looked bleak for many, many years, long before private equity and offshoring stepped in. Those still there either 1) have no options for employment elsewhere or 2) are in denial about the future of the company, which is grim to put it nicely.

When you have a model for measurement stuck in the 80’s, no real talent, and the streaming world has passed you by, it’s time to throw in the towel and follow the lead of companies like Radio Shack, Blockbuster and Kmart. Bug-bye!

The good talent have left by themselves if they weren't fired, nobody with a choice will work for this company.

What is left is the worst of the worst!

As they say in the corporate world … “ Once you go Indian, you never go back.”

To a well run, prosperous company that is.
