Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What’s going on in France?

NDG in France is supposedly on strike, and possibly on the brink of fully closing? Does anyone have any info on this? Production is up at my facility and is said to stay that way until a decision is made in France, but haven’t heard anything as of late.

Sell it for 1 Euro and stop the money loss and eliminate the cost of dismantling.

Dismantle the NDG chemical site, then put the refinery put for sale in 2025. So long France! Antwerp, Rotterdam, Fawley... Who wants to be next?

Us Europeans are tired of the treatment from the Head Office. The speed of the offshoring and total dry up of investment is leading to a lot of resentment. Only the French have the guts to act with direct action unfortunately.

First hand info : the project is to shut down and dismantle the steamcracker and associated units (PE, PP, resins,..). Around 600+ people facing layoff. Employees went on strike in protest and the steamcracker has been shut down earlier than anticipated. Then will come the air gapping phase and later the demolition. The production will never resume.
Tense negotiations between Management and unions on the compensation package. No agreement yet reached.
If I may ask, where are you working?
