Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Same IPF across entire team

Figured out pretty quickly that my manager is probably just being lazy. Entire team received the same exact IPF. No incentive to go above and beyond anymore at Cisco. Who is going to try given the LR climate at Cisco? There is no reason anymore. Just collect a paycheck and step away from the desk whenever possible throughout the day. No incentive to help others or to go out of your way for customers.

And with this attitude of stepping away as much as possible I wonder why we hit a company bonus level of 61%. Just so your job and stop slacking. You impact the rest of us with the sh---y attitude and I was hoping more like you would have found their way out of the door by now.

Maybe your team is all working at the same level. For a team that’s been together for a long time, the slackers have been weeded out, & everyone is doing an above ave job, then giving everyone the same IPF is pretty fair. If you have slackers, then that’s not fair.

I agree w/ not going out of your way, but I disagree w/ stepping away as much as possible. Some of us have great managers who recognize performance. We may want to just do our jobs, or maybe do more, but when a task involves working w/ another team, if that team has your attitude & is avoiding work, you’re affecting my ability to do work, which makes me look bad & affects MY bonus. You don’t have to go out of your way, but just simply DO your job. SO I can do MY job.

Going above and beyond may still give you higher salary raise a/o a promotion.

by doing so, you are encouraging bad management practice.

How about doing what you can do to help others instead of expecting to get compensated for it.

There is something to be said for putting in a hard days work and not hiding under the radar. Would you encourage your kids to behave like that?

If you feel that your manager doesn't value you - have that conversation. If you think you deserve more - say it. If you need to find another role - do it.

You have the power.
