Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

How are things at WD?

It's been a few years since I got laid off, and I remember how tough it was just sitting there for months waiting to see if layoffs would happen to me. Luckily, things have turned around for me now. I’m just curious - how’s it going for those still at WD? Are people feeling happy there, or is it still as rough?

@2znq+1uGNgwTo where ya been? our technology and products lead in many market segments, and the split is nearing.

WD would be much better off if it focused on developing tech and split the company, rather than focusing on executive bonuses and paying people to post online. It is what it is.

Most employees are extremely happy here. My career is going great. The new leadership has been a game changer for employee satisfaction. With ai fueling the demand for our products, there’s no way our stock won’t explode.

I did enjoy the work and the people, but in the end...it was just a job. 5 years later I'm making more money, WFH, and doing very interesting projects at the new place. Don't stay because your comfortable, stay because you see a future. If you don't then look elsewhere.

Seeing some small recovery due to AI boost but remain to be seen if the recovery is sustainable. Overall challenge remains, to pay down the heavy debt load, always must be ready to lose the job.
