Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

So the sh-tshow begins

I’m not taking over any workload that’s not strictly mine. I don’t care that there’s not enough people and that managers have a hard time organizing gutted teams. Not my problem. I also don’t want to hear about productivity, morale and, god forbid, something about having to pull together or some such cr-p. This is just a job, Cisco is just another sh---y corporation. I have contractually defined work and work hours. I’m here just for my paycheck and always on the lookout for a better job. What will become of Cisco tomorrow? I care as much as Cisco cares about what’s happening today with people who were laid off.

I worked at Cisco 2012-2015 as they replaced every member on my team 2 times over. I am an average engineer compared to the rest and quarterly saw 10-15% reduction, lost many managers and half a dozen directors as the ceo was retiring. I did not survive out of anything other being lucky, maybe paid less for my skills and being friendly. Out of all of this somehow I stayed on the same team till I left 2 weeks before they outsourced the last 5 people from a group of 200 to india team. Let me tell you something though I watched many exceptional get laid off, one died from heart attack in bathroom of cisco and 1 had a stroke nearly ending career for picking up cisco slack due to bad layoffs, business decisions and internal politics. Work together as a team for your own sanity but not for one second think cisco treats you with any care, long term goals, team agendas, promotions they will fire you for the companies profits and shareholders numbers and acquire before anything else always.

"contractually defined work and work hours" - no you don't, unless you're part of the ELT.

I hope we don't work on the same team. Do us all a favor and simply leave.

most of us went into this mode the day we started at Cisco (or any other dinosaur corp); what took you so long?

Now you’re thinking like the ELT do, I like it.
