Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

Who else is hoping to be laid off next week?

I'll happily take the severance money and leave without looking back.

I was on food stamps, Medicaid and gov’t assistance for years after I got laid off at a direct competitor prior to working at this disaster of a company. Can anyone else relate or is this your first mass layoff? This industry has been cooked for a while.

It's amazing as to how vicious, even at this juncture, some of the Paramount demoniacs are in downvoting a person's concern about their family's savings and well-being. Some of you just have to be nasty right to end, huh? People like you deserve to lose your jobs and end up living under a bridge! Repeat after me: "I hate Daddy, I hate Daddy, I hate Daddy..."

For those of you that to get laid off I understand because you are living on broken glass BUT there are those of us who have already been laid off that didn't want to. It's a nightmare out there to get a job right now and let me tell you that severance goes really quick! I cannot now support my family and now have no health insurance after working for this company for over 18 years, and yes I was good at my job, and actually loved my job just not the people running the place. If you get to stay, appreciate it and bide your time wisely!

the Warn Act from August was for those 750 layoffs.
A new notice or an ammended one will he filed. We will get the 60/90 days at least from what i understand.

I'm worrying about my family and savings should there be no severance paid. I've not heard if they are paying any severance. I don't think by law that are required to do so. They filed that WARN act paperwork over 90 days back. Technically they gave the required notice of layoffs to give adequate notice for people to look elsewhere.

I've gone back and forth, if things are better for streaming after the skydance merger I would be shocked. At one point, I was convinced and preparing to get laid off and got really excited, but now I think it's likely I'll be staying and I'm not looking forward to this week or the aftermath at all. I'll update here if I get axed though

Ready for something new. Ready to leave media behind. It’s truly fun to ride the wave of technology and industry growth but the downside is just brutal. Too many years in media. Need a career pivot.

It could be people who have been here many years and can expect a large severance.

I'm just ready for some sort of conclusion. It's been so many months of wondering when things will finally hit. This past week in particular has been seriously rough on my mental health and it's been spilling into the physical in the form of lack of sleep.

I'd like to avoid the chopping block so I can avoid even more stress of spending months looking for new work. The job market has been seriously rough for anyone out there looking. ~60 days of severance will almost certainly not last between Tuesday and when I finally find comparable work again.

I'm kind of mixed. I've enjoyed my time here, but the way they dragged out there layoffs really left a bad taste in my mouth.
