Hired last october, started this May. Wasn’t told until my first day that the original job I got hired for in S&T didn’t exist anymore, now in a role that I have absolutely no interest in. No communication from HR or my team during that whole period, just feel violated on multiple levels. Feel stuck here, as the job market is quite sh-tty right now.

You are a lucky guy. S&T has very toxic environment right now.
You sound like a youngster so listen to an elderly man: stay as long as you are learning and have a few months living expense stashed away. Keep your eyes open for opportunities both inside and outside.
Never make your boss look bad. Never bad mouth your coworkers or company.
You can rant online all you want when you have 10 years experience. For now, see what i wrote above.
Are you a campus hire or something? Get used to it if you're staying in Pep. Once your project stream ends you find some other team or you just get moved where you are needed. S&T treats folks as plug-and-play. You don't get to stay working for a particular team for more than 2 years or so at the most.
Paid job search better than unpaid job search.
Don’t mope - get to work and find the next gig.
Most of our jobs in S&T have become something we didn't signed up for. The leadership team's lack of clarity is abysmal.
