Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Does anyone know when news on promotions comes out?

Is it possible we still got a promotion even if our manager already notified us of bonus or would both those news have come at same time

When I got LR'd, I was in a group of 3 people....me (male, over 50) and two females (late 30s/early 40s). I was grade 11, and they were grade 11 and 10. One month after I was gone, the grade 11 female was promoted to grade 12....a promotion I was promised. It was a low blow......not cool at all.

It’s almost like they can happen at different times.

Well, you DO remember that they took a specific decision in 2022 (or was it 2023) to have them all at the same time. Yeah, well, that only lasted 1-2 cycles.

My manager told me I may get a promotion this round depend on the budget but I don't care as I am going to leave sometime next year for sure. Promotion = pay raise = high cost to get rid of in the next LR.

No promotion unless you prove that your contribution has helped the company grow in AI, cloud, cybersecurity.

Please see your doctor, why you ask promotion in layoff website? Are you a real FOOL?

The fact you are asking here tells me you are not close to your manager or well liked. Why won't you ask such questions to your boss ? A G8 to G10 ain't mean nothing.

How many outsiders understand that there is no raise in Cisco unless you are promoted? no matter how many years you work

Remember the show "WKRP in Cincinatti"? There was no money to give sole newsman Les Nessman a raise, so they promoted him to "Director Of News"

We shall all be Directors soon!

I think asking about promotions is a fair question. There are parts of Cisco that are doing better than others and ultimately, they get punished for performance at the corporate level.

OP is one of the many who will step over anyone and everyone to keep their low grade job.

@rfo nobody here cares about anyone but themselves. It's sad. The fake emotions about layoffs and now 2 days after about raises and promotions. This same OP will be here in 6 months hoping to save their job. Fu---n losers everywhere

For US based employees conversations happen Oct 22 - Nov 1, and go into effect Nov 1

"Wow, what a mind-boggling question! Who knew promotions and bonuses could be so mysterious? It’s almost like they can happen at different times. But hey, let’s keep our fingers crossed for both—maybe we’ll get a surprise party too!" Cisco is good about promoting people based on the "Peter Principle" - which states that in a hierarchy, employees tend to rise to their "level of incompetence." - but hey .... let us know how it goes. Since those of us LR'd have so much time on our hands now!
