Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Does anyone feel like the cost cutting savings are less about being able invest in growth and weather the storm when they destroy Splunk growth?

splunk is is the pig that broke the back of the camel. Nothing they do is special or new. 3 years ago, maybe. But csco was too busy being woke and everything/anything else to a little bit of diligence.

Your assertion would indicate you think Cisco expected to buy and destroy Splunk 23 years ago when it started with layoffs then added stack rankings, PIPs, wage freezes, dry promotions, etc... It's been doing this for decades because it knows no other way. The same goes for decades of cr-p software.

Well, yes and no

...their stated growth area is AI, which will certainly be a growth area....just not for Cisco.

But I doubt they'll ki-l Splunk growth.

I suspect there is some financial gamesmanship afoot here. With the LR, PTO change, Splunk ARR, there are a ton of financial levers changing at once; hard to understand if they are sandbagging a bit now in order to create the perception of financial health in Q1 or 2+

ELT gets paid in shares.. they said ah well no bonus for them or lower bonus however a $1 price move up on SP can make them millions… so most of the time the simplest answer is the one to look at which is their own pocket…. Most would the same unless you have some emotional attachent to the company.

You're all looking too deep into this. The ELT is only preoccupied by this quarter's books. There's not an ounce of strategy in their small brains.
