They'd just acquire you once you became marginally successful. It has happened numerous times, if you go study far enough back all the founders of past acquisitions.
Further proving the point that innovation lags the larger the organization. You have to leave just to innovate at today's required speed, and then get acquired back. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Anyone falling for the renewed innovation mantra at Cisco is either a snail, a sloth, or spent a career in slow industries like the government.
