Why the alleged contempt for streaming?

I’ve seen a lot of people snicker at the apparent hatred the 3 chuckleheads at the top have for streaming. My question is why would they and what is the evidence?

Is the long term game to pull out of streaming? Am I crazy or does that not seem like the one thing with an upward trajectory? Like why put our eggs in the basket of MTV or other legacy cable? Not trying to denigrate anyone on those teams but it’s as if the New York Times would stop putting backing behind their online presence to double down on newspapers.

Is Paramount Globals hope just to make IP retreads and just hope to sell it to other streamers in the future? Who knows with skydance merger on the precipice, but the current strategy just feels odd. Again not trying to root for any specific teams to be fired I’m trying to have an objective understanding.

Would love for someone to enlighten me.

I don’t think anybody has hate for streaming, but Shari and Bob got stars in their eyes and thought if they threw enough money at P+ it could take on Netflix. So they hired tons of people, and especially the marketing groups, spent so much money on advertising that it bled any potential revenue. And the crazy global expansion before getting it right in the US. And the streaming teams squandered any opportunities by ki-ling Showtime. Yes, everyone recognizes that linear is dying, and that the cable nets are already dead, but Streaming, while growing, brings in pennies to the dollar compared to linear ad sales. So, figuring out how to grow streaming profitability is what’s needed now, and unfortunately it means being more efficient with less resources. No hate, just the growth plan was totally unsustainable.

They are not in charge of streaming so they do not care. It doesn’t matter that linear is dying and streaming is on the up and up. They will hold onto the power of what they oversee until it is pried from their cold dead hands. They think it’s the content versus the marketing when those who market streaming have specific skills linear marketers do not but it doesn’t matter. CMC will win until Skydance comes in and changes it all again and TR has been a worthless streaming head with no power for a long time.

"So curious as well!! Meanwhile the sharp linear declines are in direct proportion to them putting all our originals on P+. Now all of a sudden linear is important again? Make it make sense."

I have said it before with all the streaming down votes and I will say it again. CBS linear is the majority of revenue and profit for the company. Streaming waste is the reason we are in the position we are in. It's not the linear decline as again they lead in profit and revenue. Streaming is the future but the amount of money TR has wasted is astounding. I think that is why people have issues. Never a reason to put a guy in charge of streaming who has no idea what he is doing.

One thing I never hear mentioned is that Paramount (or maybe just CM's leadership) defunding all the cable networks being something that accelerates their declines. Can't blame the viewers for not having any reason to tune in.. So, that leaves Streaming. Seriously, what gives??
