If you end up not being laid off this round, you may as well be laid off in the next one. There will be more layoffs, and all the time. It’s the way of corporations these days. Basically, use your time here to look for the next good thing for yourself. Don’t do anything beyond the scope of your tasks. Don't invest yourself, don’t go over and beyond - you are not going to have a career here. Take your paycheck every month and leave as soon as you find something better that suits you.

cisco of the old days has been gone for a long time.
the only hope i see for this company will involve cutting non-revenue generating services, changing the elt, and probably more layoffs.
cisco isn't innovating. cisco isn't leading in gartner quadrants. cisco isn't designing and developing groundbreaking new software or technologies. cisco is old, rusted over, covered in dirt, had it's run.
