Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Appreciation Week Comparison

I can't help but feel a bit disheartened by how things are being handled this appreciation week, especially with the new higher-ups (in my division) focused on cutting costs. I would love to hear what other locations are doing to celebrate? So far, all we've gotten is a goody bag on Monday, and we’re having a family day on Friday. That’s it. After being with the company for over a decade, I've never seen an appreciation week like this.

I know we’re not entitled to anything, but it’s tough to shake the sense that the appreciation isn’t really there this time around (albeit, was it ever?). I wonder if other teams are feeling the same way or if they’re having a better experience? It’s important to recognize the hard work of employees, especially when morale is already shaky due to the rumors of layoffs, etc. The energy feels off more than ever.

Is anyone else stuck in meetings with a select few going on about how “valued” we are? Honestly, the speeches are so generic, at best, it’s almost painful. You can practically see them relishing the sound of their own voices. It’s like they think we’re all just hanging on their every word. I get it; we should feel appreciated, but a little authenticity wouldn’t hurt. It’d be nice to hear something real for a change instead of the same old clichés.

Why does it seem like you become less human the higher up the ladder you get? These people are completely out of touch on so many levels.

Our PES team had an epic EAW. Leaders were genuine and people really appreciated the effort. Our leaders are doing the best with what they have.

It shouldn't take a company planned "appreciation week" to actually appreciate employees.

@2ktk+1uA90wCo He could be a good manager, but let's face it—what a lot of us are really seeing is just the classic type of manager who likes to brag about their own contributions (or simply takes credit) and doesn't quite get the idea of humility. "I planned it all by myself" might be true, but his post reads like a self-congratulatory moment.

“…[M]y job is to be sure my frontline team feels appreciated this week!” Precisely. It was his job. Why should we applaud him for doing what leadership all throughout Pepsico was supposed to do that week?

I love the reaction score here we hit the plus for employees biting and moaning while offering no solutions or adding value to the conversation. Then we have a manager who comes on and is actually taking care of his team during EAW and we put them in the negative? This site is fued up!

As a manager of a large team myself I don't care about cost cutting this week, my job is to be sure my frontline team feels appreciated this week! I made sure they got the goodie bags, swag and events everyday! Being short staffed and overworked just means I planned it all by myself and let the OHS survey fly my team knows I back them and they support me in return as that is a managers primary job. In today's economy under this administration a 1.5% increase is a blessing, another 4 years of this blue stupidity and Pepsi will go belly up!

A lot of factors come in to play that make this year different. One is layoffs and even your supervisor is probably wondering how they will fare after a reorg in mid Oct. Hard to blow unneeded funds when people are being laid off. The other is your manager is probably over all the cut cost calls and then told to appreciate you as it is a no win situation for them. It is also hard to plan and execute daily activity’s for a full week while running the business while short staffed due to layoffs. But the thing that gets me the most is how many people receive thouse goodie bags and do not even say Thank You to their manager is very sad. So take your OHS survey blame your manager for being overworked and underpaid so it gives them a reason to take your managers 3% raise and knock it down to 1.5% next year.

Normally I'm on the side of the person who posts but I can honestly say in my location they truly did a great job this year. Kudos to an upstate ny location, not hq. I'll leave it at that although I am taking the vrp

It’s the new normal. It’s all transactional. You do a job, you get paid. Nothing extra.

This year it's a couple of Teams video events (outside of work hours), a free lunch on Monday (for those that actually went into the office) and a half day Friday (with meetings scheduled all afternoon), so I don't really feel the love this year.

I have been here 20 years and never recall any type of appreciation week. We got a box with a tote bag, hat, blanket All Pepsi, I am on the Frito side. Daily calls-sip and paint, eat tacos or something, no idea what they will talk about today and tomorrow. I have a 1/2 tomorrow, but appreciation would be better in my paycheck. Listening to the town hall, they mentioned insurance cost is going up, but hey we can add more $ to the HSA. How can I add more $ to my HSA if you are taking more for insurance and my pay is the same?
