Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

We are restructuring to what purpose?

I saw no positive outcomes from previous reorgs. I don’t see any strategy and vision behind this round of layoffs/restructuring. I think everybody who calls Cisco a dying company is right. Hence no need for any of us to tie our future to this company. Improve your skills, figure out AI, and don’t be afraid to change the workplace. Start now.

We are restructuring to ensure we can do the needful with each and everything with our WITCH colleagues.

We keep saying Cisco can cut 30% of staff - don’t wish for things you don’t want or aren’t prepared for. It’s true 30% can be cut but that’s in the multi levels of management - I saw 3 levels of directors and then managers! Managers have small teams. A few years ago maybe when CR started or JC was going to leave they announced max 8 levels would exist between ceo and ic’s but now it’s back to countless. But only ic’s will get the axe. 30% will still be ic’s.

Ideally Cisco can get rid off 30% of the staff who are not adding any value...

In software that number is over 50%.

I saw no positive outcomes from previous reorgs.

Fiefdoms are rewarded at Cisco. Cisco binges and purges with each binge leading to more employees than there were after the previous purge. If Cisco kept what they hired and still hired they'd be 200,000 employees and yet collectively they'd produce nothing more because Cisco has net negative managerial and technical leadership and what talent people came in the door with was burned off in such a way they didn't notice.

The "positive outcome" is Cisco hasn't burned its margins to the ground like some of its competitors so they'll keep dawdling along, and for some that still had latent skills that could be resurrected, they were moved out of Cisco to places where they could do far better work.

CR and his cronies always say they will “reprioritize” into growth areas. So if that were true why don’t they give us evidence to show this if they care about us so much and their heart bleeds for us in the way the pathetic checkin tried to portray?? Where and when did they hire and invest into these so called “priorities”??? The answer is simple. They don’t. Cisco’s “LR” is cost cutting and has nothing to do with restructuring or prioritizing. It is all baloney. They cut critical engineers out of our customer facing team last time.

M@ri@ destroyed TAC.
CX delivery is bloated with her stupid idea of CSEs and SDL's.

SDLs always managed delivery well. CSEs simply muddied the waters.

We even had a few customers who told the CSE to GTFO in the early days.

They are moving CX services to MX where all they have are paper certifications with ZERO experience delivering nor do anything but checking boxes built by people who have no idea how to actually deliver services. But hey, they are a fraction of the cost. They'll learn.

At what cost to customer sentiment?

I need to find the analysis a guy did on how none of the acquisitions Cisco has made have produced revenue. In fact they have created losses.

CR is skating and waiting to get out. He looked hungover on the check-in and was checked our.

Maybe Gary can do something, but he may not be able to bucket the water that CR, Fran and the rest of the ELT have brought on board the Cistanic.

The objective of CX leadership is to lower costs. How did they blunder that? CX and the old Services has been experiencing job cuts for years. Leadership doesn't care about TAC or the Customer Experience... they are focused on lowering costs because we sell legacy network equipment.

Ideally Cisco can get rid off 30% of the staff who are not adding any value and cutting the pay check. But within this 7% there are hundreds of employees working hard and might not have axed. Take for example CX, it is the ELT decision and blunder then why the lower level employees to be impacted ?

Replace full-time employees with contractors. You can save A LOT of money by hiring contractors.

Restructure is just a business word for job cuts. CR is on his way out, he’s been planning it for a while. There is no AI bo-m in the ATL just beautiful golf courses and southern hospitality.
