Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

A lot of voluntarily exits impact the layoffs?

Recently there has been a bunch of employees leaving at their own will. Does that at all factor in to the number of folks that have to be let go? What are the chances that the number might be slightly reduced because of the atrition?

People leaving on their own don't affect the number. It's icing on the cake. Just as afterwards people will take the buyout all of a sudden and is just icing on the cake. Though you may have a case if you're union. If the company asked union divisionps for A particular buyout number to prevent layoffs and no it took buyout & laid that number off - you may have a case if union people took A buyout AFTER that number was laid off.... These people wait so the company can reward them with the max unemployment benefit . * Backroom deals and you're the last to know . If you find out

I worked for Paramount during the great days of Mancuso and then Redstone turned up a couple of years later and everything went to cr-p. I was laid off after 14 years - then joined CBS who obviously were consumed by Paramount... damn, and I've just been laid off again after another 16 years.... can I add the 14 to the 16 in terms of severance payout? the two weeks for every year?

Severance is not required by law, however, many companies offer it.
Two weeks per year is standard when severance is provided.

Neither other jumping ship or you doing extra work will have an impact. Don't make the mistake many do of chasing the mirage that somehow they'll become indispensable to P+ and hence won't be let go. Stay until let go, and do the bare minimum.

Stay until you are let go. There are many that are jumping ship to "one up" the strategy that is the layoff announcement and the constant chatter. If you leave, you're doing them a favor. They won't have to pay you severance if you're due.

Given that the lists were made by the end of July, I don't think that has any impact on the impending layoff count. They probably see it as a bonus (now they don't have to pay those people to leave).
