Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

TAC Future

I, like many others have read on this forum about the eventual move of RTP / Richardson TAC to Mexico. I was wondering if anyone has any insight on the possible timetable for this as it seems inevitable.

If accurate, one should presume this shift has begun in earnest already.

I thought Cisco opened a TAC already in Mexico years ago

Or do you mean they recently announced they're moving RTP jobs to this Mexico TAC?
Better .MX than .IN

I'm no manager, just an IC that works closely with TAC. The team dynamic in TAC is so important and they keep pushing it, which is why many of them go in person. They actually have a benefit for doing that.

This is just speculation, but if we see the US TAC teams leave, then I think we would see it happen relatively swiftly, with large swaths of teams hit at one time.

If I were to do it, the lower level staff who more consistently need help would go first to free up team resources. This would be the least impactful route. Higher grades, ergo people who contribute more to the team in terms of helping others and creating material like techzones, would go last.

This is just how I would do it. I know it sounds cold, but layoffs are most times. They're doing these because they want to save money and they're thinking about it methodically.

I do think that TAC has a high risk for being moved to a Mexico-centered organization.

As we speak, several TAC reqs are being posted daily... all of them have Mexico as the location.
