Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

CA WARN UP

Notice date 8 16 Effective 10 12 so 60 days CA vs the 90 day NY gets per the law
95 at the Gower address
193 at Melrose
469 out of NY
So that's 757 for NY and CA
So we have have at least 1200ish left ?
I know the last ten percent is by end of year so September is 1000 folks ? Wow am I reading this correct ?
How many people total work for streaming and teach if this is their phase in Sept
This seems like it can't be right ?

Can't speak for NY but the CA numbers aren't accurate. Television City had layoffs and they aren't listed

To the last poster - I think these are last weeks layoffs - all of California - perhaps burbank reports to NY -(using the notice date as a reference )
I don't think September will be posted until they happen
The company isn't really giving "notice" it's just paying out what notice would be

so if I'm headquarted out of SF, I'm safe? or is that still to come since Burbank isn't listed yet

A new notice or an amended one with data in red type takes place in NY

  • I think the address on Warn is correlated to your headquarters - could be wrong

Wow. So next round will be bigger than this round. For people that will be laid off in Sept, will they also get separate 60/90 days notices (and getting paid)?

What's the Burbank office ?
I think Nick is the 1515 Broadway address out of NY
Is there another P site in Burbank ?

Looks like the report is missing the Paramount Burbank address for CA. I'm guessing that's still to come.

I believe the Warn Act considers the employee as where they report to - if that's correct then many would be covered by CA and NY notices

I believe WARN act applies to remote staff too.

did those layoffs in California already occur or are they upcoming?
what is at the Gower address and Melrose address? unfamiliar with those divisions

Not sure if some working on Remote role is covered by Warn . So if you add another few count there then 900-950 done in first round . Very similar number in second round possibly

RE: ""Are you asking if they are eliminating 1000 spots in Sept? Does it include contractors and freelancers in those numbers?""

Likely, no. 15% of US Staff are to be laid off. Contractors and Freelancers are not staff. They don't generally even announce cutting non-staff.

The original statement/email said 15 percent US workforce - At least 2000 and 90 percent done by end of September so yea I think we could see 1000 on 9/24 if 750 or so have already happened.
No idea if contract or PBE will be counted in that - Maybe someone with HR knowledge knows that .
September is Paramount Tech and Streaming acc to one of the original posters ..

I'm thankful for the many people on this site who have helped myself and others understand how to interpret the NY and CA Warn notice timelines.

But it's pretty dirty of the company to milk those loopholes and post the notices after the fact.

Meanwhile, the millionaires sends everybody emails about the "hard decisions" they had to make. C'mon!
