Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I am sure I'm n the minority here....

and I've posted a few troll comments for sure - but the reality I'm almost a 20 year veteran, this has happened every year that I can remember without exception. That's not to excuse it, please don't get me wrong. I still think Cisco is a great place to work, they are good to me, good to my family, and while the pay is not as high as it could be elsewhere I appreciate and enjoy the work I'm doing. There's lots of injustices and lots of things you just kind of roll your eyes at (you know, like 28bn for a log server) but this type of stuff happens at every tech company with few, or no exceptions as far as I can tell - get what you can out of it, make the most money you can, live the best life you can - grass isn't always greener.

Best of luck to everyone in the coming days.

I had similar thought as OP, Until I got LRed on Feb. Once you are older, expensive(not really), not have a high level friend. It will get you in the worst timing on job market.

is it worse than the rest of tech right now though? Short of Apple I think Cisco has let go less talent and fared the bad weather better than others... It's not sunshine and rainbows anywhere in tech, and I have SUPER qualified friends that have been job hunting for over a year so I'm just not sure this "dumpster fire" is worse than the others... not that that makes it better.
