I’m hoping I’ll have some breathing room before layoffs start in earnest. Due to some private issues I can’t dedicate any time and energy to job search for at least next two weeks.

The VRPs are notified of acceptance until mid October. They can rescind until 1st week of October. It seems you have a little time. Either way, you’re better off waiting for a package if you’re part of the lay off. It’s very unsettling in these economic times. I hope you make out ok
I believe that’s the process.
- Set the overall reduction target
- Offer VRP packages
- Calculate Target - VRP Accepts = New Layoff Target
- Work out Layoff Target allocation across teams
- Cascade to VP’s, maybe Sr. Directors
- Propose candidates for layoff
- Run the numbers to make sure protected classes are not over targeted
- Execute layoff process
You got time. They'll get the final tally at the end of August and go from there.
