Yes. UK graduates have been hit at G6 - multiple times.
Only to balance the DEI thing. If they have sacked a couple of older white guys in your group, they may push a junior onto the list to show it wasn’t about age or race.
Lower grades are > cheaper - if you’re getting hit then that could be a few things.
Your group is f-ed up, sorry you picked a loser group or your mgmt just needs to serve a head.
You might have su-ked at your work or your mgmt needs to give just enough budget back to get even
Layoffs can affect ANYONE... it doesn't matter if you are customer facing, on an active project, g4 or g12, super high performer, IC, SLT, or - apparently even - ELT (MM)... anyone can be laid off.
