Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

TAC

I keep seeing comments within other threads about the future of TAC. Rumors of closing RTP, RCDN. Moving to MXC. All sorts of stuff… with no context to back up.

Does anyone actually know anything?

"RTP TAC was never good. Australia was, and SJC could be ok. I just don’t think they could pay enough to make smart people be willing to move to somewhere like RTP."

Such BS. RTP TAC was always consistently the best TAC center from a culture, collaboration, and technical perspective. Most of the TAC innovation was led by RTP folks. TAC RTP from 1993-2015 was exceptional. Always picking up scraps from other TACs and saving customers' (and Cisco) behinds. Most of the best TAC leadership was in RTP (GA, JN, JZ, JB, MH, MM, JS, CP, GS, RD, MS, and more). They benefitted from being away from Ground Zero, but they delivered. Australia was always pretty good, too but operated somewhat independently. Customers will definitely see a change in commitment, competence, and capacity if RTP TAC is reduced. Whatever culture might still have existed there will be at risk. That's bad for Cisco.

MXC and APJC TAC are pretty good at getting customers nice and pi---d before it comes to RTP TAC to get resolved. It’s just how it works.

If you’ve been here for longer than about 2 years, you’d be able to see the trajectory. TAC used to be amazing … customers would keep coming back for the reason that using TAC would make their life better! Professional, super smart, courteous, clear, and definitely subject matter experts.

Those days are gone, and it started to decline as soon as we opened up India based TAC. I don’t have a single customer that likes using it anymore…they’d rather just ask Reddit than endure the cr-p at TAC.

The few rock stars that are left, you deserve applause, and a medal.

Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil - future places for TAC. They will reduce significantly TAC headcount in US/Canada

Inevitable that through attrition that rehires will be in MXC.

Meraki has hired some US based support this past year but all seem to be interns hired on. Aside from a lead req that specified US I don't recall any posted positions posted in the US. Disclaimer, not Meraki TAC but I do check the Meraki internal job posting on a regular basis and notice where the hiring is because eventually I'll have customers complaining...

New reqs have definitely been going to MXC for the past year so this makes sense, esp after CR emphasized “lower cost areas.” Just thought that was a symptom of a hard year with limited budget vsong term strategy. I can’t imagine shutting down all of US TAC…

I left RCDN CX last year. All new hires, according to my mgt contacts within the org, are in MX.

My director refused to comment about it last week but MM destroyed TAC anyway...

„RTP is closing“ threads are showing up all weeks. Kinda Cisco TheLayoff dot com tradition. However, I would not wonder if Cisco will reduce in future US TAC to a minimum and offshore as much as possible to low cost countries.

Welcome to the site.

For some reason there are always people posting stuff like that without any merit.

Why people purposely try to make people stress about their livelihood is beyond me.
