Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco is predicting a rosy future

What on earth are they basing the 2025 predictions on? What are they “upbeat” about? Something only they can see? It’s called delusions.

A CEO running around screaming "the sky is falling" or crying incessantly are bad for both investor and customer confidence. Since most people are swayed far more by confidence than competence leaders put on a show of confidence whether they know what they're doing or not. Look at how many here still truly love Chambers after he tanked the stock for 15 years and did a litany of failed products like a 10 pound tablet and a useless overheating camera.

From wiki

Prior to Datadog's initial public offering (IPO) in September 2019, the company was offered over $7 billion to be acquired by Cisco, but rejected it in favor of going public.[10]

Amazon acquiring Cisco would never pass regulatory review for monopoly

Datadog has already eaten AppD’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s not even close. Not trying to shill for them - just being objective about features, UI, etc.

Datadog is going to eat Cisco's lunch in the observability space. Wouldn't be surprised if some Splunk people end up there.

Amazon may acquire Cisco soon.

Weird, I thought they liked _making_ money.

Maybe a government hardware refresh expected in 2025? Also 2025 is expecting lower interest rates... companies might be refreshing their network equipment
