Part of my daily catharsis is taking a dump in the office.

OCD review carried out in a certain location found areas of understaffing. SVP rejected the review and told them the report should reflect the need to reduce manpower.

If OCD is involved in this, as they likely are, it's a farce. Yes, it is those "low" performers and probably those above 50 this time, but... both expats and locals. No doubt locals get an attractive package and a handshake.

Fact is these days expats coming from O&G majors, with a track record, once in Aramco will be using around 20% of their skills. It’s like hiring an astronaut to clean toilets.

Face it, your skills are just not required in this Neolithic corporate culture. From the locals perspective they can hire a plastic passport who will roll over and massage local egos, plus they will work for 50% lass cash.
They have hit the jackpot. And the KPIs still show Aramco hires x number of “Americans”. It’s a match made in heaven.

Eventually hiring incompetent people will catchup up with them, the frog is gradually boiling.

After the 2020 real-westerner purge I seem to remember hearing they would be hiring real talent with real experience again. 2024. Part II.

I’d heard that the focus is mostly on poor performers, especially locals. OCD have been involved. Based on the layoffs so far it seems that there are also some highly paid expats or expat-heavy positions that could also be targeted.

Concerneddaughter, I'm sure your mom and dad will make their plans accordingly. At least I hope so.
Factors are between random and being liked/disliked by their thobe in chief.

Add anyone with an M on their record better start making plans. I got a few for stepping on the wrong people's toes (too many inconvenient truths).

Factors usually rank by skin colour, belief, and the pay roll type the employee took (taxes not jyid). Real or fake passport with real or fake education. Does nought matter. Though the fakes usually have what it takes to survive. A$$ kiss and kneel. Like 2020. Folders rojo.

If you have a green passport and your name begins with an ‘Al’, all will be ok. Inshallah.

Staff are expendable. That's the company mindset. If you beleive it isn't then your kidding yourself.

I’m a concerned daughter of two Aramco employees (mom is a casual hire) I was glancing at this forum and I saw a troll make a thread back in July gleefully mentioning layoffs and others committing it being in the hundreds.
Is this company wide wipe in all departments like how it was in 2020? Is the estimation of lay offs being in the hundreds true? What are the factors? Work ethic? Pay? Any other rumors that yall know to be true?

The US oil business has always operated this way. Aramco is just now adopting this model. Staffing requirements have obviously changed but in the past, they were slow to let go of expats. I assume that expats/staff are easier to replace these days not to mention the added expense in hiring and keeping expats. Like you said,' be prepared'.

They are being kept low profile, that’s for sure. Anyone been offered a sweetener to leave?
