Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Inhumane

Just to confirm… the world has been informed that thousands of people are going to be laid off but 24 hours later not one person on the ground in the company has received at minimum an email acknowledging this fact / any indication of when employees will find out their fate? How can they do this / who is leading this effort & concluding this is an appropriate way of dealing with layoffs??? This feels cruel

Did you care this much during the last layoff? Or the one before that? Or the one before that?

It’s so funny that people couldn’t care less when it’s someone else. They file their nails and keep on with their day. But when it could potential affect you, all of a sudden it’s cruel.

If you add up just the Chuckster's Cisco stock sales (not other inventments) since 2013 (https://wallmine.com/people/5773/charles-robbins#complete-history) it's over 115 million,

When you are in that world, you forget what actual stress is. "Out of touch Chuck" would be a great new name.

Splunk got word. Our CFO and CPO are gone (don't feel bad for them they came in for a year to sell the company and walked out with millions) and so are a ton of finance, legal, GA, and HR employees.

It is modern slavery. Employees are not considered as human beings, they are the property of the masters, and the masters do not care about employees mental health or suffering inflicted on them.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. This is adding so much stress and anxiety to my life. I've been having nightmares about it.

So tired of this Silicon Valley dance. Enjoy the paycheck while it lasts and take those mental health and volunteer days before you can't. He-l, I didn't even take my birthday off... ugh.

No work will get done across vast areas of the company for the next weeks, even months.

And they rub salt in the wound with these C-suiters, SVPs, and VPs sending out emails "highlighting" what happened with Q4 and goals for Q1.

Your Q1 goals meant absolutely nothing to me when I'm not sure if I'm going to be here next week...

RE: counseling.. Doubtful that would have an effect. It's probably some cost capped outsourced contract.

As fa as I am concerned I am working half of what I would normally work.
Sorry Cisco but my mental state is not exactly good and I am considering asking for counseling -there is a procedure for that internally to ask for help

If like half of the company does that then maybe these ...holes would be gentler next time.
