G2 does not know security and collab so what if he does not know networking? He does not need to be qualified same as all the other useless ELT. Cisco is run by politics and not performance and not talent.
Cisco has sold cardigans, shirts, polos, etc in the last 10 years. Major diversification to the needs of the market.
ELT and board needs some serious thinking here and evaluate the line of business.

At Cisco today everyone is worried about what other group is doing and doing theater job while their core job function bites dust / $hi7. Good people with knowledge are no longer valued in this place. All they need the current social trends and practices that makes it a #1 place to work. As there is nothing really developed or innovated.
The hierarchy /bureaucracy is like a crystal maze being built. So many directors and above just making it TOP heavy while no hands on work.
J2 doesn't need to understand networking. He needs to make the hard calls. EOL multiple OS and product lines. Rebuild those with newer OS. EOL multiple controllers, EOL thier cloud native hosting platforms, EOL the separate visibility tools. EOL the poor man's Splunks. EOL multiple workflow tools. EOL the multiple xFlow forwarding and analysis tools. The stuff everyone knows needs to be done, but no one has the testes to do, because it means 100s of thier village mates lose thier jobs.

So far the only thing I have heard is JD was too slow, Chuck is a terrible leader, and the market needs integrations. Those are the weak tea reasons. Please tell me why my investment in this mid 40s stock wont fare worse?
JD knew networking but not business. J2 is a business person not a technologist.
This change was much needed. The old school networking mindset does not lend to the deep integration that the market wants, resulting in siloed products and massive politics to slow integrations. Now, there will be proper alignment to get these products to work together seamlessly and quicker. The reality is, the market does not care and change is the only constant. Resistance is futile

I agree. JD is good guy but too slow. Even as a EVP he'd reply to emails from ICs. No hubris about him at all. But as said, he's too slow. Is he slow though because of other politics, lack of budget? Probably.
WTF was networking given to G2 who has lost both UC and Security for Cisco. So now he'll lose networking as well (not that we weren't losing it anyway)
