The comments sure make me think he's looking to send corporate functions overseas

Most Chevron engineers watch the vendors do "the actual engineering work." I saw this all over the world. It's not that the Chevron engineers couldn't do the work, it's that they were never trained to do actual work. That's the bad part. The good part is that Chevron engineers are paid much more than vendor engineers. Will this change in the future? I am retired and saw it all.
All right, who’s downvoting @uqf+1u0mrD6Y‘s post? He made a valid point, but I guess HR & MW can’t accept the truth.
Anything for a buck Mike.
I have to wonder if any part of MW questions himself about his legacy of being the most hated Chevron CEO and all he accomplished was layoffs and destroying the company while paying big dividends
MW passing the buck to KD on why we need to continue benchmarking and focus on competitiveness to honor his legacy. No accountability by the current leadership.
So just checking..... if I'm a new engineer within first couple years in the US in IT does that mean I won't have a future here?
Sooner we offshore the manager of engineering management the happier many will be...his back stabbing will fo down well in India.
So are we offshoring the Worley Parsons guys or the Chevron MCP people that watch the Worley Parsons guys?
ExxonMobil and Shell have established support centers overseas (which we've also done in Manila and BA) and have been operating global technology centers (design, engineering, IT, R&D) supporting all business lines offshore for a couple of years now (which we haven't done as we have centralized these in the US or each BU/MCP has their own thing) - in this area, we are behind.

The people are better at reading manuals that are created for them to do their jobs - have you talked to any of them or "chatted" with them...... If he is stating they are better - he IS clueless and should be dumped
it is a done deal. India it is
Replying to the comment about how they are better. Have you ever worked with any of the people overseas in our service centers? It’s comical and I think middle schoolers could do better some days!
He talked about some of counterparts in other industries sending work overseas not because it’s cheaper but because the people are better.
