Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

I wish it was all done in one day

Or at least that I was laid off on day one. We don’t need prolonged anxiety and uncertainty. As if any of us will manage to be productive until it’s all over. Cost of months-long layoffs on our well-being and work performance is too high. And I’m mentioning work performance not because I care about the company, but because many of us derive some personal satisfaction from doing our jobs right. We can’t have even that now.

I could see these layoffs coming. P+ is over bloated with way too many ppl. The simplest of things is exhausting from all the meetings and coordination that needs to take places. The size of the app does not justify such a large headcount. Ppl are just getting in each others way. And many employees are kids w/o much experience and are clueless. It’s like P+ was giving out jobs and manager promotions like candy. You breathe? Then you’re hired. There not even a decent onboarding experience in tech. Just a bunch of poorly written documents with bad formatting, all thrown together in confluence. What a waste of money and resources .

OP, an idea.

  1. Get another job asap, don’t quit your current job
  2. Continue getting paid by paramount while you do the other job which will hopefully bring you satisfaction.
  3. Wait as long as possible to quit Paramount. You’ll make double salary. It’s the least these pigs deserve.

Doing the minimum daily and milking this place is the only way to be during these times. Collect your paycheck and moonlight somewhere else.

The union brothers can show you the way, just reach out.
