Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Someone needs to call BS

I get why the shift to new tech areas might require an LR for engineers with very, very specific skills that don’t align to the new tech area- sort of. But if their claim was true, sales and marketing people should be able to adjust from one tech area to another with reasonable training. A good sales or marketing person can shift to a new technology. And BTW, I personally believe a good engineer could as well for 90% of those cases as well

This is the new normal. 5% LR every six months. But don’t worry, your mental health is important to us. BTW don’t forget your best place to work survey.

Its actually makes sense to me Cisco across the board has WAY WAY WAY too much bloat, I know tons of folks who really aren't earning their keep. Also they are the heads of the snake they get to make those decisions, if you want that task go join an ELT somewhere. The whining on this board gets old........

I have never heard so much BS. It's 'financial discipline', duh! The street knows and they aren't buying it based on the questions.

I don't understand how this is viewed as a good earning? Is it simply because someone says it is good?

100% Correct. Claiming its "re-aligning resources" and not cutting costs is nonsense. Cisco is full of very bright people who could quickly move to new areas. And HR should be focused on that motion instead of townhall rah rah meetings.

Revenue is going to drop, ELT knows but wants to keep Wall Street pleased until they exit.
