Volunteers not asked because only good employees will leave. They want to get rid of the people who are not lifting enough weight.

Also, 4000 laid off will make some insecure and some will resign anyway in voming time saving company severance amt.

If they're giving impacted employees a package anyway, why not solicit volunteers? People have been commenting how they hope it will be them to go- just give it to them and let those others who WANT to be here, stay?

Yup you’re right, no one is really safe until LR announced and you do/don’t get meeting invite from your manager to notify you you’re gone 🙋‍♀️🤷‍♀️

WARNs are issued concurrent with quarterly reporting to avoid stock manipulation.

So far, Cisco has not filed any WARN notices, so the layoff will not happen soon today. Personally I believe it will postpone to investigate who leak sensitive information to the media, if the company management can not keep confidential decisions secured, how to convince customers and investors for security?

Cisco is the worst with layoffs. It should be a quick thing. Send emails to everyone impacted on the same day and be done with it. Cisco kind of makes this a festival spanning over weeks and months, making employees nervous. Why should anyone be working for the company while in danger of layoffs? Why won't they readjust resume and start preparing for interviews with a head start? Upper management is stupid AF.

I have been LRd twice. First time my manager gave me a heads up that I was on the list so I got to work and was able by good luck move into another group. 2nd time was during COVID and the "call" was on my calendar for a few weeks prior. After about 5 weeks was able to find another role. No idea what to think this round. Usually someone has shared the US date of notification and idea of primary target areas. Sigh.

It is what it is.

I thought notifications were supposed to go out tomorrow after they announce it during earnings call today.

Remember the old days when JC would announce a LR, with details to come in two months? Two months of anxiety. That's where you really learn to relax and just let it happen.
