I have long wondered why Ford just us to say the heck with Ford credit. Just call it Ford credit and have the bank administrated. Wells Fargo, Chase, a lot of the other manufacturers do it why does Ford have to have their own in house? I would think that would save a ton of dough. It would seem that many of the jobs could easily be replaced with artificial intelligence except the collectors

Ottawa?? it took almost 10 years since Ford bought blackberry for you to know what you're doing. shipping jobs to mexico and india make at least make some economic sense.. shipping jobs to canada geezz.. canada got just as many incompetent engineers as usa, mexico and india but cost more because of their socialist health cares.

@1fi you don't understand how they make money? It's very simple, they originate loans to car-buyers, they sell the discounted cash flow from the loans to investors, earn margin on the spread, and go out and do it again. Additionally they sell insurance and commercial finance products to dealerships. Why are FMCC rates higher than credit unions? Well for one, credit unions don't pay any taxes, for two Ford Credit doesn't have FDIC insurance and can't use low cost deposits as a funding source.

What I can't understand is how Ford Credit even makes any money. The last few times I've purchased a vehicle, the dealer gets me a loan through Ford Credit. Then, I turn around and get it refinanced through the Credit Union at a discounted rate. Shouldn't the company give the employees a discounted loan rate in order to get more business? Are they afraid we're going to default?

All I know is that every time they do layoffs with the Motor company they hit Ford Credit at the same time. We got those same bye bye emails that the Motor Company office workers , etc. received.

"Persoanlly, I think it's safer to be in Ford Credit."

I do too...matter of fact, the predictions on layoffs here have been so notoriously bad, I'd venture to guess it's one of the safest places because it's mentioned so much....

Yep...the division that is hands down losing the company the most money right now for 2-3 years in a row is surely the safest place to be. Don't belive me? It's a startup! There...immune to criticism because the word startup was used....nah, nah...

I can say that Model e is safe org to be right now and even some of the support groups of Model e.

Growing rather than reducing.
