Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Can't find a new job

I'm done with 3M. I've been looking for something else since the start of the year. I don't even know how many applications I've submitted and how many interviews I did in the past six months. I even made it to the final round a few times but I ended up being rejected by each one of them. If I was laid off and doing this without having a job, I don't know what I'd do. It's demoralizing and scary as it is.

I was laid off in December 23, worked for 3M 12 years, have applied for maybe 20+ jobs, I had couple interviews that seemed promising, then got the Dear John letters. Forced retirement it was for me, only had a couple more years to go anyway.

The Ethics Hotline does nothing with complaints about toxic managers.

That’s what the ethics line is for. Use it and stop crying like a baby.

I cannot handle the toxicity at 3M much longer. I go into the office twice a week and the toxicity is hard to take. But I am not able to find another job and am not able to move at this time. I just call EAP all the time. 😢

For those who think there is no toxicity when one works from home I invite you to join a Teams meeting with my manager. No one should be allowed to yell and treat someone badly online or in person.

I was impacted last year after 26yrs at 3M. Luckily it provided 6months severance after the 2 months from original notification. It took me 6 months to find a job and I love it. Much less stress than at 3M. Sadly, my commute is now 45min (vs 20min). If you want out, keep working your network and applying. I was worried as well, but it does take time and a bit of luck. Use your network. I applied to my current job online, but after the interview, I used networking to make calls on my behalf. That seemed to work well for me. Good luck!

Despite the media gaslighting, the economy su-ks and businesses are not investing. The job market is good if you want to be an uber driver or work at Wendy's. I've been applying/interviewing for months and have had several roles taken down during the hiring process due to hiring freezes.

What a stupid comment. Most if not all people land new jobs because they know someone, or someone who knows someone. It’s called a network id--t.

These troll posts obviously are all from the same loser, the one who spams this site with bs he thinks his clever and who has nothing else going on in his miserable little life.

Neither failing nor going bankrupt. Just kicking the trash to the curb! We will rise once toxic management and long time losers are out.

Most employees at 3M were put in management by their friends or related to someone in the company. Who needs skill when you get positions based on who you know. I guess that's why they're failing and going bankrupt. Next will be selling assets off. They're already priming some locations. There's a reason high ups are jumping ship. I've had plenty of offers. Maybe you just su-k at interviewing or need to demote yourself.
