Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

L&D one more time

In the past 18 months, since the L&D organization was created, 100+ employees have been added to this group; most of them new hires. Since then LDLT has constantly ignored the expertise of their employees and hired vendors and consultants to pretend to do the work. Now there are 100+ employees and dozens of vendors and still no work being accomplished. I have never experienced a more dysfunctional organization. The 'Leaders' in this organization are clueless about what's involved in creating high-quality training products. Bells, whistles and shiny things are what they are looking for; if it looks cool, no one cares if it actually provides useful and accurate content.
Let's talk about the leadership team: multiple ethics complaints have been submitted, employees have been terminated with no performance improvement plan, while employees are subjected to bullying, gaslighting and aggressive behavior on a daily basis. Employees have followed every process afforded them, including talking with ELT as a last ditch effort to get support and nothing has changed / improved / been addressed.
At least 40% of the organization is actively looking for a job external to P66.
How can this continue to occur? HELP!

Agree, the new leader is gonna need more support than P66 can provide to get this organization on track. Literally, everyone that has a degree in L&D has been laid off. You know who didn't get laid off? The leaders that never got L&D off the ground and destroyed everyone in the process, it's incredibly discouraging they still have a role within P66. The supervisor that has to be one of the worst leaders in the company (based on number of complaints during their short time with the company) actually got a promotion. Go figure.

To those laid off, I'm sorry. Good news is the grass really is greener on the other side of P66.

To those left in the organization, my condolences as it seems impossible you'll have any opportunity to succeed.

To all the consultants left in place to perform the work of the terminated employees, congratulations as you'll have plenty of opportunities to make loads of money by providing more poor quality work.

Something tells me L&D’s new leader doesn’t have a clue what he’s got himself into. I won’t say this place is past redemption but he’s got a lot of fixing to do. Not just in terms of actual work but he needs to gain the trust of the people who’ve been misled by prideful and foolish “leaders”. To the teams that inherit the old ones, good luck!

To the good folks on the frontline who lost their jobs, I’m sorry and you deserved better.

To the leaders who got a second chance, when popular opinion says you should’ve been walked out, I hope you do better this time around.

And to those of us that are still here, keep looking for other roles because as the CHRO said we can guarantee they didn’t get this reorg right.

L and D being a big group is only part of the story: Their “leadership” has eliminated positions where they needed to add positions and added positions where they need to reduce positions.
No wonder they’re flailing and flopping around so helplessly trying to gain some kind of traction!

In the past we thought L&D was a tiny little wasteland group so it didn't really matter. 100+ people and dozens of high paid vendors??? Now we know, it's a massive organization that has been beefed up with no idea on how to actually complete work. What a stupid way to ki-l training at P66. The fact that multiple people have gone to HRVP and nothing has even been addressed is shameful. How bad are things that people go to ELT for help. Talk about a wasteland.

Agree! L&D is on life support, a wasteland of exceptional talent held prisoner by an out of control overlord. Current CHRO knows it yet chooses to do nothing. The disaster is all his now.

I couldn’t believe the team size you mentioned until I checked the org chart. This is the definition of waste. Meanwhile, teams that make a real difference are getting trimmed past the bone.

L&D is undoubtedly the most insufferable group I’ve ever had the displeasure of working in. I’m grateful to be employed but I’ve shed tears at the thought of having to come into work. Sunday nights are hard and Friday can never come fast enough. For so long, I thought it was just me. Those “leaders” couldn’t claw their way out of a wet paper bag. They’ve done absolutely nothing but waste money and time. Unfortunately, us on the frontlines are likely to be the ones that get cut from all this work elimination nonsense. At this point, being let go may be the best way to greener pastures. Godspeed.

The ELT and mainly Ol’ GoGo are still in 1st place for being dysfunctional, after all they’re the geniuses who came up with BT. The buck should stop with them for the disaster that has fallen on P66.
That being said, L and D are running a respectable 2nd place for being worthless.
