Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

It's pucker time.

You will be getting an email Monday July 15 telling those people working hybrid schedules to return to full time on site work by September 16 or be terminated. The purpose is to conduct real time evaluations of personnel to help right size the company. In other words, the next round of layoffs is at hand.

Every single response in favor of WFH has the words "I" or "Me". It's not about you. The decision to RTO was not personal. It was business. It's not just happening here, it's happening across the tech industry. L3Harris moved to a WFH and hybrid arrangement to minimize the exposure to COVID. That was it. The pandemic is over. The data shows WFH was not as profitable for THE COMPANY as full time on site work. Collaboration with coworkers in person produced faster and better results. You are fortunate that you had the chance to continue working without being exposed to infected employees in a crowded building. Some of us were not so fortunate. Some of us who had to go to work were exposed. Some of us got sick. And some of us died. Finding sympathy for your situation is falling on deaf ears. The company is your employer and they are in charge. They have given you instructions and 2 months to comply. Your options are to comply and maybe keep making a living, resign in protest and try your luck elsewhere, or get fired for insubordination. The last 2 options will not make you attractive to perspective employers. Relax. You still have a job.

RTO! Finally there will be accountability for theses slackers! Maybe the company will recover in time from the mistake of WFH. The shareholders have been begging for this for a long time. The board of directors wants it too. And the Cube will comply to keep his job. The pajama party is over snowflakes. Time to get some work done.

"Nothing adverse happened to Harris. Therefore, your point about destroying L3Harris is pure speculation."

It took a 2 decades or so for the rot inside GE to become apparent. It took 10 years or so for Boeing to implode.

The same type of people are now running L3H, starting with BB. CK is an accountant. They are strip mining the company, cashing in the current value of the contracts, turning them into stock buybacks and dividends. The clock is ticking...

This is going to hurt recently bid programs which used SIMTO data that assumed the efficiencies of a hybrid workforce. Looks like we’re going to start having cost overruns again.

“Therefore, your point about destroying L3Harris is pure speculation.”

I clearly stated that “Unknown to them [activists], they think they are fixing this while in the process of breaking it”. Nowhere was the assertion made about “destroying” L3Harris or making that point. It’s obvious you are not one of the top performers.

Activist investors or corporate raiders were at Harris already during Bill Brown's reign. During a corporate all-hands meeting at that time, Bill Brown told CHQ employees that the presence of activist investors or corporate raiders did not create any tensions. This was because he had already begun working on divestitures and layoffs before they joined. These investors helped to drive up the stock value, and Bill literally welcomed their involvement. Once they made their profit, they left Harris. Nothing adverse happened to Harris. Therefore, your point about destroying L3Harris is pure speculation.

Here is what’s going to happen. Kubasic & c-suite are accountable to activist investors who are modern day corporate raiders. Wall Street is targeting the defense industrial base for a profit and unfortunately the farthest removed in how this really works. Unknown to them, they think they are fixing this while in the process of breaking it. Top performs know that they can work for anyone and will come to the realization that it’s in their best interest. Over time, some will go to competitors and others will transition to places that work a better for them. If you want to know what happens next, study the corporate raiders of the 1980s.

If true, other companies have done this to get "volunteers" to quit so they don't have to pay severance. It's a very common post pandemic tactic for tech companies. Let's see what happens.

Finally. The company will function better with RTO. If you are one of the people getting offended by this, then you are part of the problem. The selfishness of hybrid people do not think about the people who have to show up everyday and cannot get the hybrid people to do their job efficiently. It should have happened sooner.
