Thread regarding 3M layoffs

I need to get out right now before it's too late

Attrition has intensified recently because people are realizing there's no future at 3M. Everybody is seeing the writing on the wall and taking action. I'll be damned if I'm one of the last ones to stay on this sinking ship. The first proper job offer I get I'll be gone from here.

They’ve done stock buybacks, cut and cut and leaned out from their employees that due the work just to satisfy the stock holders, No one has the ba--s to do what’s needed, it’s smoke and mirrors with the stock holders to pad pockets, no real desire for innovation anymore… no desire to invest in their employees, they consider employees a huge liability, ie: the huge push in safety.

With the removal of LTI for 14 and 15, this group of talent will start leaving. Also those on 12 & 13 likely will no stay, knowing that there's no chance to get options at 14&15. There u go. Will foresee a talent continuity. Perhaps that's the HR strategy as they plan to replace with external hires. Starting with new CEO& next CFO.

It's funny that production thinks it's an indispensable part is the company, as is we aren't offshoring production left and right.

The problem with this company is that they've sc--wed their talent pipeline. They cut so many upper-level individual contributors and low-level managers that there will be nobody to keep things on track as upper-level leaders leave

Meanwhile, you have fungible line workers convinced that they know best how to run the company, and senior leaders putting pieces in place for a fat payout when they take off.

The JGs 11-15, doing all the work to keep the company afloat, are caught in the middle.

This isn't an airport, you don't need to announce your departure. If you're that paranoid and this attention seeking/desperate, then seriously, gtfo. Any normal person can tell that anyone this desperate for validation and attention are 14 year old girls and washed up celebrities. And to the ones sitting around making $150k while doing nothing, don't worry, you'll be the first to go on the next round of culling the heard.

Sadly this is the regional model that 3M had implemented. The higher JGs are placed to oversee regional sites. Their roles is mainly to coordinate meetings and collate report. They get the best benefit wfh and can truly get work life balance while getting a high salary.

Sorry to say, but the people below who are making 150k a year to sit on their a-s at home and do nothing are the ones largely responsible for this ship sinking. Meanwhile the ones actually keeping this company afloat by making our products in the factories are being treated like dogs, working slavers hours, and barely making enough to scrape by.

If only our senior leaders were not so out of touch with the reality of how employees feel about the future of 3M.

Admittedly, it's actually fun to make over 150k and have so many freedoms. I haven't missed The Price Is Right in a long time. And the afternoon naps are getting longer. I feel like a Politburo member under the waning days of the Soviet Union, living in posh housing and getting steak while the proles get hamburger. No stress at all as 3M is going the way of Mother Russia under Gorbachev.

Don’t expect farewells. Please leave as soon as possible. We promise to not miss you.

Me, too.

The problem is that I've gotten so good at quiet quitting that I'm getting paid $150k to send a few emails and attend a few meetings. The rest of the time I can watch Netflix, do some laundry, mow the lawn, and even get an afternoon nap in.

Gonna be hard to find a gig as good as this one.
