A moment of silence please for the good people of SiXworks for what they are about to endure.
IBM has a monopoly and thus pricing power in enterprise engagements. This is nothing more than gathering up more enterprise experience. NOTE you don’t see IBM purchasing or expanding the distributed envio (HW, SW, or services) in any way. Even though distributed makes money (20-35% margins), it can’t support IBM’s overhead thus expect it to get partnered off. Kyndryl anyone? They proved they could operate on 20-30% margins while shifting 80-85% of their work to low cost countries. Distributed fits into their sweet spot as far as customer base is concerned and the question would be do they wish to expand their portfolio to manufacturing and development. It’s not as crazy as it sounds in that they would be playing into a midrange monopoly
humm add them to GBS or software services $300/hr - DOD will say no!!
This is another desperate move by IBM to try to get into some customer(s)... since, most everybody these days don't want to do work with IBM.
They probably paid about $34B like they did for Red Hat
You have to wonder who inside the IBM leadership team got a big cut - bribe - to buy this POS company with a revenue of a lousy $8 million ?
Pathetic !
