Secret Retirement Package?

I learned of a guy with at least 25 years retiring a couple weeks ago. Perplexed me that he didn’t wait to see if there might be a VBO next year. Wondering if there’s some kind of retirement package that’s not publicized that the company makes available to people with a lot of years of service.

It could be that they just had enough I know of a person in her 40s with 18 years that flat out resigned recently because of a toxic manager and org.

Sounds like he was ready to retire and had saved what he needed through the very generous 401k matching and profit sharing so he didn’t need to stick around and wait for a vbo that may not happen. The vbo is not a pension. It’s not a retirement. It’s just a bonus.

Around what age is he? Maybe there are circumstances in his life (maybe his own health issues or a family member) that require time and attention.

There is a post a few months down about this
Yes there is a retirement package for certain criteria being met
I know some people don’t want to gamble on waiting another year and I can understand that.
