Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Consultants

I continue to be amazed at the waste of money for consultants to do the same exact analysis that another 2-3 consulting firms have already done previously. The best is they just take all of the data many employees pull together and just reframe it. The consultants aren’t even doing the heavy lifting but charging a pretty penny for their ‘services’. So AIG ultimately pays more than just the expensive contract… each time multiple employees time is spent providing data to these jokers

First post is spot on and the one about wasting $20M, except sometimes it could be way higher. Plus Pirate Pete gets to loot the company for at least $20M a year flying around on the jet while the consultants tell him what to do

Does not the management decide the vendor and hiring of consultants.

Why don’t you all quit and become a consultant. Employees are useless and hence consultants are preferred.

One of the senior management mentioned they want to have more senior level roles and the rest all employees axed and replaced with consultants

We get pretty cr-ppy contractors on the SWE arena, we are not able to interview or choose who gets onboarded, and most of them cause rework.

Their PowerPoint presentation will be provided in 100 slides to tell them to “increase revenue and reduce expenses”. The. They’ll charge $20m for consulting.
