Promises made but never kept. NCR hired me as a contractor saying it would be 6 months to permanent. Two and half years later it never happened. The reason was always "funding issues." Last week I got a quick phone call saying my contract was over, hurry up and complete your timesheet. An hour later my laptop's network access was disabled. Wow! NCR has had two waves of layoffs (100+ employees) this year so far and the stock has gone from $19 to $13 in a year so judge for yourself. If approached by NCR for a contract role with promises to be made permanent, don't waste your time.

The contractors in our country have a super high turnover, constantly newbies in remote areas with zero training. NCR has always loved it, they are paid a flat rate per call with no benefits and no responsibility to them. Not only does the customer suffer, but NCR allows them full access to order parts without questions or checks. These contractors now have free access to parts, order as many as you want, unused or spares to service 3rd party customers under their service contracts, its a win win for the contractors. Meanwhile managers ignore it and pretend like it’s not happening.
Both companies for NCR will continue to use and abuse contractors, but what they don’t understand is how it affects the parts system with order 2 of everything possible and the continuing damage to the customers and the brand.
Not all contractors are bad, the long term guys are ok, but others…….. good grief
Soon everyone in NCR will be a contractor, except for LT.
No benefits to worry about.
Hire and fire at will.
