July 1st - Is It Gonna Feel Weird?

I presume a very high majority of the verped are now gone, save those that got extended. Is it gonna feel weird so many of our veteran colleagues are now gone? I wonder how the existing workload is going to be redistributed? Interesting stuff we are now venturing into.

The best part of this is so many folks with tech knowledge that left without good knowledge transfer that some things will have to be supported by vendors. Think they’ll be cheaper than FTEs? Sure.

Yes, I agree. Definitely don’t work longer hours or take on additional duties without additional compensation. If there will be no additional compensation then there will be no additional work.

It will feel more real next week as so many are taking PTO this week due to the US July 4th holiday and an extra day off.

The workload is just spread out across whoever is left and it will be expected to be completed. There will be no extra compensation given, just more stress and aggro.

I would not recommend that anyone put in extra hours to get the extra work done, if it's not done it's not done. Doing so will mean that the powers that be will expect you to continue putting in free extra hours and will not provide further resources to share the workload.
