I don't blame my supervisor—it's not his fault. I've devoted much of my adult life to ExxonMobil, putting all my eggs in one basket under the assumption it was a stable, lifelong job. This sense of security lasted two decades, but it fractured in 2020. Now, just weeks away from NRE, I'm hoping to stick it out a few more years. I wish supervisors wouldn’t take the criticism personally; instead, I hope they can find compassion for the underlings. They still enjoy the job security that vanished for many of us during 2020. Like everyone, we have our own families and financial commitments. Hurting people hurt people and often lash out at others when they are in pain.
