Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Yesterday was my last day, so last words

Xerox continues to fail to understand why their business model isn't working, and its mind numbing. Their employees lack motivation. They lack drive. They work knowing they could be next. Core leadership struggles to contain the fallout from these seemingly random layoffs, especially when not notified due to the recent restructing. Core leadership is completely caught off guard, which perpetuates mistrust from their employees, but then told to stay in their lanes when they raise concerns.

Why is sales not selling?? Not because of the economy, but because they are emotional beings!!! Yes, money motivates, but they are driven by ideals and they need to feel supported by a company that feels like it's winning and Xerox doesn't feel like it's winning. Certainly not from the inside. They know their support teams, which mostly consists of individuals located overseas, don't REALLY care. How much laying off needs to happen before they realize there aren't enough quality Xerox (not external) employees left to support them.

Xerox continues to work in sylos!!! Instead of working as a collective team, they continue to work by departments, and this continues to be perpetuated by the "Reinvention."

Cheers on leaving X. I was laid off 4yrs ago during COVID (full transparency- i was looking before layoff but was a hard market at the time) and very happy within months of layoff. I stop by TheLayoff when one of my previous coworkers mentions something.
You'd be surprised how your skills from Xerox get used elsewhere. There is no reason to stay! Move on!

The team selected to modernize has a zero percent probability of delivering. Biggest bunch of BS’ers I met here and that is saying a lot. The exist and work in an alternate reality.

Lack of motivation? We have an entire culture stuck on ESR and selling copiers. How do you turn a company into a Software and Services led company when you continue to keep the people stifling the culture and who refuse to sell or compensate on services?

At the same time how do you expect anything less from SB and JB when all they do is fire people, call it reinvention, don't modernize, streamline systems, reduce complexity and have zero new offerings?

Stock is down because we probably won't turn the corner. SB is out within 3 months, bankruptcy coming soon.

It’s been 24 years of “headwinds”, exchange rates and every other excuse under the sun….. what exactly would be the turnaround based on … nothing! Best of luck!

The OP couldn’t be more spot on. This is coming from a tenured XBS employee.

Unfortunately, these are all true. I can say as XBS leader, we're left in dark with layoff decisions. Basically get an email night before to let someone go 8am. It's horrible and pathetic.

It's difficult to stay positive and motivate your team. I stopped intervening with employees that want to depart, and encourage them to go after the better opportunity if offered.

It doesn't seem that they've been trying to save it at all for at least the last 15 years. Pre-Ursula. It seems like they're just trying to figure out the best way to squeeze everything they can out of it for the top execs and investors. It's so very sad. The product is too expensive compared to competitors. Printing/copying is down all over. It was a great idea to try to expand but they never made it one company.

It’s a dead company and offers dead end career. Looking elsewhere is the only option. Congrats to the poster for leaving!!

Least inspiring leadership team in 40+ years. Steve has to know how full of sh*t he is. Only hires obsequious staff. No skills or talent at the top level. Solve a problem and you are not a team player. That miniature IT guy is a piece of work cutting imaginary deals.
