Is Nobel CVX’s best acquisition ever?

As we approach the anniversary of the Nobel acquisition, it occurs to me this might be the best acquisition ever for CVX. Where would CVX be without NBL reserves and talent? Med assets have been printing money. RBU quietly outperforms MCBU. And it was all acquired at rock bottom prices. Not to mention an influx of experienced talent as most experience folks fled CVX.

NBL employees are bringing CVX down. Reserves are okay for RRR but staff is largely incompetent especially the drilling folks…

Are you talking about Noble energy? You obviously are a troll and don't work for either company if you didn't know that.

@cnm+1, this notion that RBU outperforms MCBU is a planted story to make KMcH look good and justify her next promotion. It would be the same as saying CBU outperforms GOM.

The assets are good, the people great! Super nice, competent, simply move to action without too much Chevron go around.

It was never an acquisition! It was when they hired me! We’ve been winning ever since

Noble Rockies - A+
Noble Eastern Med - A
Noble Permian - C
Noble West Africa - C
Noble Eagle Ford - D

However you want to assign value, it was a win for us at CVX.

Like talent from all acquired companies, some folks are rock stars, some aren’t. My supervisor is ex-Noble. Best supervisor I’ve ever had.

My subsurface Noble colleagues are great, they are very professional and competent, no dramas, nor pose, or politics, very humble and cordial attitudes. They focused on getting things done through collaboration, collective thinking, and expertise. I really enjoy working with them

When did Chevron acquire the Peace Prize?

Opposite impression of NBL employees. Tend to hate OE, but are generally better at actual work. PDC on the other hand…

Legacy Noble assets have been good.
Legacy Noble personnel on the other hand…

Misspelling aside - the ROI on a cost adjusted basis for the NBL assets would be hard to beat. The NBL execs/board absolutely panicked and bailed using their golden parachutes. And let’s face it, without NBL production, CVX would be in decline…

What do we know about Sergay Sucmenoff that came over in the Noble acquisition?

Gulf was the best. Texaco was second best.

In hindsight as a L-Noble employee, really was a clown show. Great assets though.

You’re not going to be winning any prizes for your spelling. It’s hard to take an opinion seriously when you can’t event spell the company’s name properly.

The need for continued acquisitions speaks volumes about Chevron’s exploration program. Nobel’s front range assets would have been better run by a smaller company with lower overhead and their Mediterranean assets have resulted only in small beans to date. Best acquisition? Right.

Noble was nothing more than consolation prize for Anadarko. If you want a nominee for best acquisition ever, I'd nominate Unocal. Not much left of Unocal people or assets anymore (true of all acquisitions 20 years later), but in its time (roughly 2005 - 2015) it stabilized a teetering Chevron-Texaco with production and people.

It's Noble and their employees and culture were and still are a disaster for Chevron. Poor money management, sub par engineering, and a terrible safety culture. Legacy Noble employees are lucky Chevron bought their clown show.
