Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Time to leave NetApp in the Rearview

I have worked here for a few years. Over the last year and a half we have been under an on and off hiring freeze. Had budget cuts/layoffs happen out of the blue. Meanwhile the CEO and big wigs are sending out emails praising the company and bragging about how much the stock price has raised. Then the next day they lay off almost 20 people who will not be easily replaced. They also are trying to swap out full time employee jobs with contract companies that offer no PTO, terrible benefits, and low pay. Oh did I mention the contract jobs will not let anyone get a raise no matter what? Seriously hoping that there is a mass migration to other tech companies causing the stock price tanks.

All the execs lining their already sagging pockets at the expense of hard working employees. Where have we seen this before?

If you're member of the technical staff at this company, I feel for you. Not a lot of modern, transferrable skills required for most product offerings at NetApp.

The bean counters are coming for your job. Hiring freezes across many orgs for teams in the US, leaving no chance of refilling vacancies brought by layoffs. All this happens while reqs continue to grow for off-shored talent. My guess? Senior leaders will continue their off-shoring engineering to the brilliant and wonderful engineers in India and hiring cost-effective contractors to save money. All while senior leadership remains in high cost of living areas like CA. Seems hypocritical because it very much is.

Hiring contract employees allows the mgr/directors to get some fringe benefit (their cut from the staffing companies, dummy hire just on the paper etc)

So they laid off only 20 people? all this ruckus for that count? I am genuinely asking...
