Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Transparency on revenue streams

Supposedly, Ford is becoming a data and subscription company, and subscription services are a component of compensation plans. Why does subscription revenue not appear as a line item on the financial statements? How can anyone know where we stand as a company if we don’t report the number of subscribers and the revenue quarterly?

Farley, we know you read this, how about explaining it?
Or should I ask this question on the Q2 earnings call with all the analysts on?

I think Ford leadership has been very transparent on the resounding success of BlueCruise. This is just one of our subscription offerings.

Ford’s “leadership team” absolutely reads this site. It was proven through a comment made by one that was specifically about a post on this site, and the comment made clear that the post had been discussed at the highest levels. There is no other forum to get unfiltered remarks, so not only do Ford management read this, so do the reporters from the Freep, the Detroit News, and the WSJ. Post accordingly!

The opinion of what a position is a lot more rational than an opinion about what some one would do. That entry made no assumptions about the person, just about the position. If you want to consider that sour grapes that's ok. But part of that sense of accomplishment is thinking you obtained something that is highly desired by most people. When you encounter the opposite sentiment, it doesn't mean you got sc--wed, it just means that there's people out there content with less responsibility and comparable pay that's all. You don't have to take offense or make conjecture a out what some stranger would absolutely do.

You sound exactly like all the other passed-over-and-bitter-about-it GSRs...

If you had a shot at being an LL6 you would absolutely take it.

Oh please. Ford's leadership team does not spend time reading this comment forum. They are managing the most progressive and dynamic mobility company in the world right now. Why bother with what unknown internet complainers say?

I know for a fact that Farley and other top Ford executives read this site, as do writers from the local newspapers and the WSJ. Comments were made about a post on this site that prove it.

"And I'm already promoted to a LL6.."

Well congrats on being a glorified yes person. While you're GSR8's get to take real vacations you get to be at the beckon call of a 5 and a force lease of a vehicle you don't need. Since you brought it up hope you know that an LL6 is actually a demotion. You can make as much money as a GSR...they lured you into a scapegoat position. Congrats on taking the bait you poor soul. As long as you are happy and know what cr-p sandwich you just made yourself. If it tastes good to you then good on you. Thanks for taking one for the team so the rest of us can collect the highest pay possible without having to get pulled away from vacations and weekends.

OP

Two things

First, Farley doesn't read this website.

Second, you are not going to ask that question during the Q2 Earnings call. You would never have the nerve.

@1dai+1tdFUHJQ If subscriptions and services are ever “a primary revenue for the company,” you better be prepared for a much smaller company and paycheck.

Y'all need to stop makin all this ruckus...

I got hired to Ford September 2022 right after y'all SIRP. And I'm already promoted to a LL6.

Things is great here. Finally a company that UNDERSTAND what it's like for all their employees. They made it more fair to all us groups.

There was a time in this here country when certain groups did the brunt of the work while another groups got all the credit and spoils. Now we are back to that way of life - it's just that you people find y'all on the wrong end of the whip. You ain't had no problems with it before so why start now?

I hope things stay the way they is. It's looking great for so many people nowadays.

I dont know why you think I am hurting. But I do appreciate your concern. I was pretty devastated at the time of my layoff. But I eventually took control of my life. Now I can confidentially say that I have never felt better in my life.

I had to look up the TDS acronym. I assume you are referring to the current political meaning.

You could not be further from the truth. I sincerely feel you have to be bold to make your life as happy as you want it to be. And The Art of the Deal taught me that. Love or hate his politics, he is a great businessman. I genuinely suggest you read that book.

Model E needs to work on an EV that customers want and can afford to buy. There is no point of an auto company selling subscriptions for non-existent vehicles. Without the actual smart phone Apple would not be making any money on subscriptions.

Like it or not, subscriptions and services are going to be a primary revenue for the company. But realistically, caution must be taken as to how far it can go and how many features can be premium cost before customers balk. Luckily the Model e team is proceeding carefully to maximize Ford's profit potential.

We haven’t experienced pure “capitalism“ in a very long time, but rather a crony-capitalism mixed with socialism/marxism and that has ruined everything.

Subscription revenue us absolutely Ford's future bread and butter.

Look at how all of thr OEMs want to get rid of AM radio and also eliminate Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Then they'll sell us a subscription service - just like Elon does with Tesla. I think they'll start charging for antenna usage to pick up FM radio. We can't really be surprised. I think over the air television is going to go subscription soon - like the Brits charge an annual license fee to receive Ota broadcasts.

Our country really will sell everything to us. That's just how it works. Affordability will go down for most. But for the lucky few at the top, things will get much better. And the American Way is for all of us to hope that we can be one of those lucky few at the top while everyone else struggles. Yay capitalism!!

@vwx+1tdFUHJQ - Just wow. You don't actually want to "own" your car, do you? Do you pay to use the camera on your phone? Do you pay to use the speakers? Do you pay for the display to work? NO, you don't. If you own your phone, you pay to use apps that provide a service, but you don't pay to use the hardware on your phone. Test an old phone with no service if you don't believe me. It will still turn on, stream videos and play music, take pictures, send and receive email, and browse the internet if you're connected to wifi. Stop defending bad business practices. People who think like you are how we'll all eventually have to pay to run the windows up or down, or use the cargo bay.

Ford is a mess and getting messier. Farley is about to get shown the door with an insanely undeserved ' golden parachute ' $$$$$eperation package. It's obvious Lawler will get to fill the CEO seat as he desperately su-ks as many investor d*ck$ as possible to boost the stock price; which Farley FAILED miserably at attempting as did his predessor Hackket ( the id--t ). So what do have? A poorly organized family that has cycled through 4 CEOs in little over a decade ( compare to what M Barra has accomplished at the helm of GM!!! )
Some of the best talent being cut as a result of Hackett's " not-so Smart Redesign " and executed by Farley with Boston CONsulting's help. Amazing to see those that were cut in 2022 landing positions at NVIDIA, Alphabet, Microsoft, Tesla - a former colleague who I greatly admired is doing extraordianry things at NBC Universal. Meanwhile Fprd is left with fakes and flunkies. Field hasnt delivered. EV programs are cancelled or delayed. Partnerships haven't happened, hmmm what ever became of the big VW-Ford partnering!!!!! Subscriptions??????? LOLOL Never went anywhere. Canopy???? Billions lost. Whats left is the worst product portfolio in automotive, a Detroit based facility ( MCS ) that no one wants to work at or even asked for at the expense of shareholders. Poorly designed and engineered vehicles leading the industry in recalls. Where's the accountability? Layoffs? There should be terminations starting with C - Suite! Bombick to lead quality???? What has he accomplished? He should be lead right out the door! Lincoln???? Another loser, designed by an Arnold Schwarzenegger wannabee and a team that have no sense of luxury - look at their ( lack ) of accomplishments, why are they employed?????
So what's next? BF knows time to get to get rid of Farley and Lawler has to cut more costs - easiest way is to cut workforce, it's already happening in EU, more NA jobs will be outsourced to India or Mexico and thos eof us that are left will once again have to do more with less. When does this happen??? With performance rating being pushed out more than likely Q3. It's about to get nasty folks, do your homework, Blackrock, State Street, etc all released memos on how poorly Ford is expected to perform especially with no products and a loss of confidence in leadship.

Farley has failed and is out by end of year. Lawler is next to hold the title. Good luck.
Subscription revenue is all B$, everyone, especially Wall Street knows it.
BTW Rivian stock soared 40% today from a $5bn investment.
Hmmmm whatever happened to Ford's partnership with VW as well as Ford's investment in Rivian???
Oh and layoffs? Lawler will have to cut costs and boost the stock, easiest way is to cut NA jobs and offshore them. When will it happen is anyone's guess.
Ford is on plenty of watchlists as a top 50 most unethical companies for targeting older and pensioned employees, separations will be done quietly to contain MORE bad press.

Id like to see transparency on revenue AND expenses. Any group that has its own CEO (Train station, canopy) should have their own separate financial statements. How else is someone with a CEO title accountable? The train station is now open for “free” (paid for by shareholders and employees’ bonuses) tours. Where is the plan to recoup the well over a $ Billion spent on renovations? When are employees moving in? Canopy was a failed idea from the inception, FLV’s plan to dupe investors with the thought there was a real subscription revenue opportunity. Where are the numbers? If they were good, they would show them, that’s how we know they are not good.

Farley, care to respond?

@vwx+1tdFUHJQ I pay for a few subscriptions on ly iPhone, none have anything to do with any of my vehicles. There isn’t any subscription service I would pay for on a vehicle. Any subscription I want to have I want to carry around with me, not have it parked in my empty vehicle.

Just wow. You do know that your smart phone has the ability to run all kinds of apps, right? And you have to pay for some apps to get the premium experience with them, right?

Mobility products such as SUV's and trucks will go the same route.

"Subscriptions" like, "We're going to put heated seats in your car but you have to pay us $20 per month to use them."?

The only way I would go for that is if all the car companies collude and you can't buy anything else. And collusion is supposed to be illegal.
