Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Actual job postings

163 jobs at the moment, from intern to vice president. 150 in the US. surprised it's not 163 vice presidents.

From jobs.lumen.com:
43 Sales and Marketing
23 University / Entry level
18 "Corporate Careers" (whatever that is)
3 Executive
14 "High Tech"
13 International
15 Program and Project Management
33 Technicians and Network Operations
1 Customer Service - that explains a lot, doesn't it?

The "High Tech" are almost exclusively federal which means there's NO engineering hiring going on.

And with that said, a company of 20k employees (or whatever the current number is) only having 150 positions open is not a sign of growth or health. And no hiring for development means any new programs are going to be attempted by overworked and understaffed existing employees, so in other words they aren't going to be delivered on time with quality, if delivered at all.

The beatings will continue until morale improves!

Boooooyyyyyy am I feeling it... Been trying to get a mental health leave approved for a few months due to burnout. The DTL training has not helped with my issue, nor the cultural transformation training, nor the new Allyship training.
What this training has helped me with is...low morale, a jarring sensation to do the bare minimum and a quick trigger of non-empathy for every new paper pusher I am being forced to train from my customer facing position...on the customers time and dime! Welcome to the transformative, disruptive company simply known as Lumen.

I still don’t understand why people think Microsoft would buy Lumen.

Why? What assets does Lumen have that would benefit Microsoft? A tier 1 backbone? MS doesn’t want to RUN a network, they want to use it. Copper and fiber customers? No. Edge sites? That’s gear that’s just getting older and probably covered in dust from not having any customers, and it’s not what Azure is built on. NaaS? That’s a a bunch of APIs which aren’t relevant to anyone other than Lumen, and even that’s debatable.

Federal network contracts? Nah.

I suppose hypothetically out of bankruptcy for pennies on the dollar maybe there’s something but I really don’t know what.

And KJ continues in her BS conferences on how Lumen is disrupting the industry. Only causing disruption in an internal implosion. The worse leadership ever seen in 30 years. Seems intentional to lower company value for an easy takeover for MS on the cheap.

It's not even $1 at close today.
Kate is doing a great job by all measuring sticks, each stick has a label on it, "measures overall lousy-ness".
