Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Any examples of non executives who are happy when they retire?

I can’t think of a single non executive employee I have met that is happy when they are in late career stage. Every single one felt mistreated by the. Implant in their final years. Have you ever met someone who was late career and not unhappy with the company?

Everyone I know who retired is grumpy. That or they are too sick to enjoy their retirement because of the physical abuse exxon caused on their bodies.

Almost everyone I talk to since I retired (Execs and non-execs) became disillusioned by the time they retired. The silly, short sighted steps that the company took during Covid made a bad situation worse and that stench continues to linger throughout the organization today. It's pathetic, and sad. I did fine, but I despise the company I retired from

When I hired in over 27 years ago there were older employees that were very bitter and all throughout my career I saw it. When they started bringing in slackers and making them managers, the disgruntled employees doubled then I hit 50 and felt the same way they did although I promised myself I wouldn’t. Mainly due to a she boss that must have the goods on someone high up. I don’t know of anyone that was happy their last 5-7 years there but I know a lot of folks that are happy they left especially within the last 6 yrs or so.

I left early at CL29 without getting to full retirement. I never wanted to be an executive. Some may say I left at the top of career. Some may say I was foolish not to tough it out to get the magic age and years in service.
I’m the judge of what’s the right answer.

Of all the years I worked here, I was only happy a couple of years. Most of the time I was treated with disrespect, gaslighted, stolen from, and subjected to behaviors that could be considered harassment. Life is short and my memory of work where I spent considerable time is important. Sure there’s always more money and maybe the “prestige” of another CL level bump if I hang in there. But I decided to leave and do something else worthwhile and be happier.

I've been retired in place for the past 5 years.
The only place I talk bad about the company is at the pub I visit every day around 4.
So i'm 'happy'.

Only a handful were happy with the company in my 20year career… most wee miserable. A few retired in anger so upset with the ‘system’…

Generally it is the apprentice who have ended up as mpts in late career who retire relatively happier as they didn’t expect to get to cl 26/27

I know a lot of people who were forced to retire before they wanted to. Pension isn’t worth as much if you have to leave early.
