Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

I try to change jobs often

You should too. No point in today’s corporate US to stay anywhere too long. Chances of long-term commitment resulting in pay raise, career advancement, skill improvement, better CV, are next to none. So I’m always on the lookout for something better or just different, and try to continuously invest in my skills and market value. I hate looking at myself as just another market commodity, but that’s the game. In any case, this place is, hands down, one of the worst I ever worked for. Just leave, guys! Or stay but fight for better conditions, pay, work hours, management. Otherwise, it really is a pointless endeavor.

OP is correct. Doubt many people will now tolerate the “hanging sword of Damocles” career path that’s plainly the new norm.

Listen to this poster.

If I were to change anything in my career it would have been to change jobs every 36-48 months. Staying here was a function of Schwaberangs, timing, internal promotion, family or familiarity. But leaving would have been the better play.
