I care about helping people and my OU encourages us to do Project 6. But I feel like if I do it I am playing into the corporate BS. I feel like I am helping Medtronic with their fake mission. I won’t do Project 6 because MDT is a joke and I won’t fall in line. I might help people outside of work, but I won’t wear a stupid shirt and be a photo to support some site leader’s goal.

Project six was a part of the old culture under Earl Bakker. This group keeps it going because it would be bad press to drop it I think, but they don’t invest, encourage nor reward anyone for philanthropy
Shirts? I was told We got rid of all the logowear to save money!
It's sad to see how Medtronic's mission to help the community has become a joke.
The only mission for Medtronic is to keep our shareholders happy.
Yeah I won't be part of Geoff's photo op
I have always and will continue to give back to my local community and chruch as they align with my values. I give Medtronic no credit for MY efforts to bolster their decaying reputation. I will give them credit if they provide anything tangible other than lip service.
I know what you mean, the Project 6s can sometimes feel forced. But I also feel like you’re being a little petty. I still feel like the mission is meaningful, even if the company doesn’t always live up to it (or seemingly rarely lately). However, you’re only contributing to the problem if you opt not to participate in helping others out of bitterness to a company. Be better than that.
We used to get up to 40 hours of paid time off to go volunteer but that seems to have been taken away.
