Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco has lost the game.

Long time Cisco here. I feel like Cisco destroyed themselves.

Have any of you ever worked with Mikrotik gear? Amazingly inexpensive. Highly easy to use. Command line is pretty much linux. The GUI management tool works on an app or a browser.
If you want to just try it out, you can download the OS, install it in a virtual machine on a laptop, and run it. It actually will work that way.

With the 2nd world, the global South, and rural America coming online, this is the gear being installed. None of those people can afford Cisco gear or their insane licensing. Mikrotik pretty much unlimited license is about $300 and is perpetual.

This is yet one more boat Cisco missed.

Cisco support is dismal, now, though. Ki-led for all the reasons you listed.

You can ship a highly functional Mikrotik router with 161gb ports, 2 sfp ports, and management port for about 190$ from Amazon. 0_0 Add the full perpetual license and you've got an internet capable router for $500.

historically, the pitch for cisco over that kind of solution has been world class support.

lucky for mikrotik, our SLT doesn’t care (or understand) why the products still sell, so they actively try to ki-l any remaining reputation cisco support has ever had, through relentless outsourcing & downsizing.
